Gonna Rise Up Singin'
The new CD from Dore Male Voice Choir
Let me say that I've listened to (part of) the new CD from the 50 strong Dore Male Voice Choir and I am impressed by it. This is Male Voice singing at its best. One can hear why the choir perform not just in this country, but abroad as well.As I am writing this the CD is playing a rousing rendition of the Battle Hymn of the Republic in an arrangement by Peter J. Wilhousky. Mostly everything is performed in arrangements which show off the choir's expertise.
The CD arrived in the shop on the same day as a flyer from a concert with another well known Welsh Choir. There is no need to travel far for singing of this quality. I've the Dore CD here in the shop priced £10.00
With 15 tracks on the CD it's difficult to choose a particular favourite track, but besides the Battle Hymn of the Republic mentioned above, there is a sizeable (nearly ten minutes) Sinatra medley which includes
- My Way,
- New York, New York,
- Strangers in the Night and
- Fly Me to the Moon.
Some Traditional melodies and folk songs are included: Shenandoah is here, as is Amazing Graceas are some well known compositions: The Long Day Closes <'i> and The Lost Chord.
